We are excited to invite you all to the first of our QSC Works-in-Progress meetings at 12pm EST on Saturday, October 2nd. As we've noted in our last email regarding the meeting, this is meant to be a safe and supportive space for new work, without many of the formalities of professional conference presentations.
For this meeting we will hear brief presentations from Pieter Vanhove, currently an Associate Lecturer at the Department of Languages and Cultures of Lancaster University, and Matthew Zundel, PhD Candidate in the Italian Studies Department and Fellow at New York University's Center for the Humanities.
Pieter will be presenting an unfinished draft of an article on the radical queer French writer, Edouard Louis in conversation with Althusser, Gramsci, and Derrida. Matthew will be presenting an article they are currently working on regarding the figuration of perverse sex in Pasolini's final unfinished novel, Petrolio.
The meeting will last roughly an hour and a half with each presenter having ten minutes for presentation and 35 minutes for discussion. We are very excited for this first works-in-progress outside of the usual space of a conference, and do hope that you will consider joining us. It promises to be an exciting afternoon (or morning, or evening depending on where you might be joining us from!).
