In preparation for our roundtable at the American Association of Italian Studies annual conference on “Italian Feminist Thought in 2021” we are hosting an informal pre-conference reading group on 25 May from 12-13,30 EST to discuss related readings recommended by our roundtable participants. We recognize that for a variety reasons most will not be able to engage with all of the readings, and we welcome any level of preparation that works for you. While our presenters and their brief talks will be the central focus of the conference round table (5 June 2-3:15 EST at the AAIS conference), we wanted to create a complementary space that might both prepare us for their remarks, while also centering the voices of those who may be in the audience or may not even be able to attend but for whom this is an important topic. We will arrange the 25 May meeting so as to facilitate discussion likely with breakout rooms and also altogether.
You do not have to be a member of AAIS or attend the conference in order to join our pre-conference discussion, but please register for security purposes at the link below. Please feel free to circulate among colleagues, friends, and students who you think might be interested. We imagine that our conversations will flow between Italian and English and welcome people to choose their preferred language in that moment.
PDFs of most of the readings are in the google drive link below. For any questions or technical issues, please email Juliet (firstname.lastname@example.org).
