Claudia D’Angelo, PhD, explores the potential of heritage in Italian fashion companies, arguing that brands shape their identities through their past. The definitions of brand heritage and brand identity will be explored, terms that impact the cultural and commercial activities of important Italian companies such as Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Emilio Pucci as they engage their traditional targets -- and new audiences. Made in Italy fashion archives have acquired growing importance in the international cultural panorama and are a major asset for companies that aim to position themselves in the fashion system.
Co-sponsored by the Italian Department at Dickinson College and the Consulate General of Italy in Philadelphia.
